Swagat Indian Cuisine Menu

Our Indian food menu in Portland spans both North and South Indian cooking. For more than thirty years Swagat has served the Portland metro area, and what began as a single restaurant in Beaverton has grown to three — each with its own kitchen and its own menu.

That last part is worth saying plainly: our three restaurants don’t serve identical menus. Beaverton has the widest South Indian selection. Hillsboro has the deepest range of curries and biriyani. NW Portland has its own cocktail and wine programme. Choose a location below for its full menu.

What we’re known for

Dosas and South Indian cooking. Crepes made to order and served with sambar. Our Beaverton kitchen makes ten varieties — plain, masala, Andhra, rava, Mysore, onion and utappam — alongside idli and vada. It’s one of the widest South Indian selections in the Portland area.

Biriyani. Basmati rice steamed and baked with Indian spices. Hillsboro serves a homestyle Hyderabadi dumm biriyani in both chicken and bone-in goat.

Tandoori. Meats marinated and cooked in our clay tandoori oven and served on a sizzling platter — chicken, lamb kababs, jumbo prawns and salmon.

The classics. Butter chicken, tikka masala, vindaloo, saag and korma, made the way we’ve made them since 1992.

Thali dinner

Most of our vegetarian, non-vegetarian, tandoori and biriyani dishes can be ordered as a thali dinner — the dish served with dal curry, sambar, raita, vegetable curry of the day, rice, naan and dessert. It’s the easiest way to try more of the menu in one sitting.

Thali lunch

At lunch we serve a set thali — a full plate with rice and free refills, naan, raita, salad, pakora, mint chutney and dessert of the day.

  • Vegetarian Thali — palak paneer, dal curry, vegetable of the day and sambar. Can be made vegan on request.
  • Chicken Thali — chicken makhani, a piece of tandoori chicken, dal curry, vegetable of the day and sambar.
  • Goat Thali — halal goat curry, a piece of tandoori chicken, dal curry, vegetable of the day and sambar.

The thali lunch is served dine-in only.

Halal

Our home-style goat curry is halal at all three restaurants — bone-in and cooked in a mild curry sauce. Halal boneless chicken thigh meat can also be substituted into our chicken dishes.

Vegetarian and vegan

Every restaurant has a full vegetarian menu — paneer dishes, dal, chana masala, aloo gobi, malai kofta, vegetable biriyani and the whole South Indian section. At NW Portland, vegan dishes are marked on the menu. Our vegetarian thali lunch can be made vegan on request.
